The Brainstorm Service Award
Bill Zulewski,
Senior Art Director,
Travers Collins & Company
You could call Bill Zulewski “Mr. Brainstorm,” but that
isn’t the name of the Club anymore.
But whether we’re calling it Brainstorm or Advertising Club of
Buffalo, Bill answers the call, time and time again for the Club, because
that’s his nature.
For a detail-oriented art director like Bill,
the only way to do something is to do it 100%.
He’s served on the
board of directors, and contributed his talents to the ADDY Show creative
twice in three years. Each year, Bill plays a key role in securing top
judges to be a part of our Show, and helps to ensure that Judging Weekend
is always a success.
Bill also chaired the highly successful 2004 ADDY
Show. This was back in the days before co-chairs. As anyone who
has taken this on knows, bringing the ADDY Show to life is a Herculean
task, but Bill found a way to do it, and he did it very well.
After chairing
the Show, it would have been easy for Bill to drift away from Club
activities to spend his free time lounging by a pool. But that’s not Bill’s
way.
To aid those following in his footsteps, he compiled a comprehensive
ADDY Show instruction manual that is still used to this day. Bill makes
himself available to other co-chairs that have followed and is always
there for them as they wrestle with the countless challenges that come
with putting on such a huge production.
And when the Club announced it
was changing its name to Advertising Club of Buffalo and conducting
a logo contest, Bill quickly got to work. He put together a number of
possible logos, and submitted his best concept. Tonight, it was announced
that Bill’s work was chosen as Advertising Club of Buffalo’s identity.
It is no surprise that he won for two reasons. One, he’s a very
talented designer. And two, he really understands what this Club is all
about. Bill “gets” the Club’s brand, what it is, and
all that it should be.
He’s not the tallest guy in the world, but he always comes up
huge for our organization. When it comes to anything involving the Club,
it’s because he really cares.
Congratulations, Bill, on an honor
most deserving.
Criteria: The Brainstorm Service Award
recognizes not only hard work, but also outstanding achievement in
furthering the activities and interests of the club. All past recipients
have shown dedication, commitment and service to the club that went
above and beyond the call of duty.
