The Judges

Soren Thielemann, Creative Director, TURKEL
Hailing from a small town in the mini-country of Denmark, Soren has poured his bottomless cup of creative juices into the field of advertising art direction for over 15 years. Starting his career in Europe, Soren impressed clients and award show judges in three countries, with work on billion-dollar brands like SONY, P&G, Hewlett Packard and Carlsberg. Despite this success, Soren decided to forego Europe’s liberal drug policies and plentiful nudity in favor of Miami’s status as “a permanent vacation.” Soren has had the pleasure of working on accounts like Carnival Cruise Lines, World’s Leading Cruise Lines and the Florida Lottery before joining TURKEL as the Creative Director three years ago. While taking time off from his vacation, Soren is an avid diver, golfer and connoisseur of wine and food. He also teaches at the local ad school. (In advertising, not wine and food, although the combination would the ultimate dream.)

Federico Calvo, Interactive Dude, TURKEL
Federico has worked for TURKEL since 2001 as the director of the interactive department. He joined a regional Latin American internet company as an Interface Designer and Developer in 1998 where he had the opportunity to work for clients like Ford, Diners, Telefonica’s Yellow Pages, Banco Mercantil and many others in interdisciplinary teams of system designers, programmers, graphic designers. He is specialized in Flash as well as Search Engine Optimization and has extensive experience in 3D, Video, ASP. NET, Transact SQL, XHTML, XML, Javascript, and CSS. Some recent work includes: turkel.info,trendgroup-usa.com, summerbymiami.com, and saftpay.com.

Greg Wheeler, Senior Writer, Zimmerman
Nine agencies. Fifteen years. Hundreds of campaigns. Thousands of headlines.

Brian Bobinski, Creative Services Manager/Producer, Cooper DDB
Brian is a sort of a Brad Pitt/George Clooney kinda guy. Born in Connecticut. Moved to Atlanta where he stayed ‘till the glitter of the Miami Beach model/shoot scene called in the late ‘90’s. Freelanced for Macy’s ‘till ‘05 when DDB unearthed his resume on the internet. Brian loves what he does: building shoot crews and interacting with the “Crazies.” That’s about it....oh one more thing: he loves to cook and grow orchids.

Amanda Sosa Stone, Freelance Photo Consultant
Amanda has a degree in photography from the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies. She
studied under Elyse Weissberg, an industry icon, who was a photographer’s representative and
creative consultant. Amanda worked as an art buyer for Foote, Cone & Belding in New York. In 2002, she moved to Orlando and continued working for FCB. In 2005, she left FCB to pursue a freelance-consulting career. Amanda travels frequently giving seminars and consulting with photographers nationwide. She is also the founder of the online resource ShootinFlorida.com. She was contributing photo editor on a book by Elyse Weissberg. Currently, Amanda is a co-consultant for National Geographic assignment division. She is also co-publishing her first book, The Photographer’s Survival Guide.

William J. Teale, Director/Editor
William was born in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in Europe. He is fluent in four languages. He studied at the Architectural Association in London. William has been directing for just over 25 years. He is also an editor and has worked up from the Prevost vertical Moviola through to the latest Avid Media Editing systems. William currently lives between Venezuela, Miami, and London.
