The David I. Levy Award
Jim Hettich, Chairman/CEO,
Crowley Webb and Associates
Born in Eggertsville, Jim graduated from Amherst High School,
earned a bachelors degree from Niagara University and a
masters degree from The American University in Washington,
D.C. After beginning his advertising career in Buffalo, he was
offered a unique opportunity to travel to Anchorage, Alaska
where he joined the DDB West agency network. After seven
years with DDB and then BBDO, he returned to Western New
York to join The Wolf Group. Jim spent nine years with The
Wolf Group where he served in a number of client service and
strategic planning positions and later as COO of Wolf Group
Rochester. He started his tenure at CWA as Senior Vice
President, became Executive Vice President in 2002, and was
named to his current position as Chairman/Chief Executive
Officer in 2005. Over the course of his career Jim has worked
with a number of brands in a variety of product and service
categories including: ARCO, Bausch & Lomb, Blue Cross Blue
Shield, Canandaigua Wine Company, Citibank, Eastman Kodak,
Fisher-Price, IBM, Kaiser Permanente, Independent Health, M&T
Bank, Mobil, National Fuel, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation,
Phillips Lytle LLP, Sealtest, Siemens Corporation and Xerox.
Jim has served on numerous boards and other important
organizations, representing our industry with class. Never selfabsorbed
or egotistical, Jim is to be commended in that he
always seems to put others first – whether they be coworkers,
clients, or peers. He is a member of the AAAA New York State
Board of Governors and has served on the Brainstorm Board of
Directors for many years. He continues to act as the academic
liaison for Brainstorm, speaking at area colleges, and
coordinating the Don Nichols Scholarship program.
In addition to his work with clients and numerous industry
organizations, Jim has worked tirelessly on behalf of charitable
organizations as well. He has served on the boards of the
MS Society of WNY and Bornhava. He is also a graduate of the
Leadership Buffalo Class of 2001.
Jim lives in Snyder with his wife, Colleen, son, Connor,
and dog, Marley. His daughter Cathlin is a junior at Slippery Rock
University, and his son, Cuyler is currently living and
working in Chicago. To know Jim is to know he loves his dad (and Dylan
and the Dead). And he’ll always tell you that you look like someone
who in no way resembles you at all.
It is with great pride that we present Jim Hettich with this year’s
David I. Levy award.
Criteria: The David I. Levy Award was created to recognize outstanding
