  1. Go through a line-item analysis of your overall business expenses and cut what’s not necessary.  You'll be surprised how the small items add up.
  2. Drop the marketing that isn't generating a positive return on investment.  All marketing should be designed to grow your business!
  3. If you don't know whether your advertising is generating a positive return on investment, use this year to track and measure.  Start by using vanity phone numbers, unique URL's, landing pages and Google Analytics.
  4. If your website isn't bringing you new business, it's time to revise it.  Consult with a marketing firm for further guidance.
  5. Speak to your customers!  With solutions like Constant Contact, you can easily maintain top of mind awareness and increase word-of-mouth referrals.
  6. Acquire a copy of "Raving Fans".  It's a quick read and a great book to reinforce the value of a customer-centric approach.
  7. Develop a customer touch point map to help you visualize and enhance every key interaction that prospects and customers have with your company, from answering the phone with a unique greeting to surprising new clients with an unexpected "thank you".
  8. Start a blog.  If you have something compelling to say, people will listen.  It's a great way to build your database.
  9. Thank your employees.  A famous man once said, “If you take care of your employees, the organization will take care of itself.”
  10. Set aside 10% of your advertising budget to test new media that you've never tried before, such as an infomercial, public relations campaign, a webinar or search engine optimization.
