My take on things:
Props and location establish a setting, but lighting creates the mood. The ambience of the light affects the emotional content of a photograph. Whether the image is black & white or color, the quality of the light - the type, shape, texture, direction and color of it helps us to understand the place, moment and time of the photograph.
My work as a Lighting Director on motion picture and HDTV projects is an extension of my approach to lighting for stills.
I got into this because it was fun. It still is. I'm lucky that way. The process of creating images is its own reward. Every time I shoot I'm grateful that I make my living doing what I love. I like to work with people who also get a kick out of what they do.
What do you think?
