4 Reasons to Use Client Testimonials

Want a fast, cheap and easy way to increase sales? Add customer testimonials to your website and marketing materials.

Studies show that prospects care more about what other customers have to say about your product or service than anything else. Not the made-up compiled quotes from anonymous sources who use only initials. I mean real quotes from satisfied customers with actual names, titles and companies.

Think about it. If you’re interested in switching any type of service provider or hiring a new firm, you want to talk to their current clients before taking any action. And a glowing customer testimonial is a good place for your prospects to start.

My clients and creative partners know that I highly recommend adding testimonials (or Quotable Quotes as I call them) to marketing materials whenever possible. 

And for good reason. (Well, 4 good reasons, actually.)

  1. They add credibility
It’s one thing for me, your copywriter, to wax eloquent about your company. But words of praise from customers who have actually used your products or services are more believable and persuasive
  2. They resonate emotionally with your customers & prospects

    Testimonials that address a common concern (quality, value, durability, etc.) can dispel your customers’ and prospects’ fears and provide the emotional reassurance that they’re making the right decision by purchasing from you
  3. They help increase sales

    Successful companies such as Amazon, Overstock and TripAdvisor know that customers often make purchases based on what others say. I know I do. It’s a business model that works!
  4. They’re FREE
Just ask your clients nicely for a testimonial. LinkedIn is also a good source for quotes. Be sure to include the FULL name (no initials), title, and company of the person you are quoting, and always ask their permission first before using.

Testimonials are a simple and effective way to promote your company and help increase sales. I use them on my website and have recommended their usage to several clients.

Some companies prefer to have a separate Testimonials page on their website with its own main menu tab, but I also recommend scattering them on various pages throughout the site as eye-catching sidebar quotes, too.
