Community Involvement...
As Miss USA, Mary Therese Friel had the opportunity to meet and talk with Muhammad Ali. It was an experience that changed her life. During their conversation, Friel asked Ali what really mattered to him and if he had any words of wisdom for her. Ali offered the following enlightening quote, "Service to others is the rent we pay for a room in the hereafter." Since that day Friel has carried that message with her everywhere. As a result of this meeting, Friel dedicated a large portion of her life to volunteerism. For her efforts, she has been given the 1,000 Points of Light Award through the Independent Sector and Give 5 in Washington, D.C.
Friel has made this mission a core component of her company. Mary Therese Friel, LLC is committed to making a difference in the community and leading by example. Volunteering is one of the cornerstones that the business is built on.
Since the beginning, the company has used the beauty queen and beauty business image to help raise money for charities. Fashion shows are a natural extension of Friel’s company and make excellent fund raising events that are well received by the public and media. Mary Therese Friel, LLC has produced successful fund raising fashion shows for many charitable causes, including: the homeless, Veterans, the Humane Society, Native Americans, and the Breast Cancer Coalition, to name a few.
As a supporter of Causewave Community Partners (formerly the Ad Council of Rochester), Mary Therese Friel, LLC continually consults and provides models pro-bono for community based programs advertising campaigns.
