The Editorial Freelancers Association is a national, not-for-profit, professional organization of self-employed workers in the publishing and communications industries.
Members are editors, writers, indexers, proofreaders, researchers, desktop publishers, translators, and others who offer a broad range of skills and specialties.

Founded in 1970, EFA works to raise the professional status of its members and to make the freelance life more dynamic and rewarding.
For freelancers, the EFA provides a bimonthly newsletter, a JobList, a Member Directory, a member-only electronic discussion list, monthly General Meetings in NYC, chapters and chapter events around the country, publications, and access to group rates for health insurance (in some regions).
