Mountain Lake PBS is owned and operated by the Mountain Lake Public Telecommunications Council – a volunteer board of trustees representing the geographic area of the station’s broadcasting signal. Mountain Lake PBS is a not-for-profit organization, and is the licensee of WCFETV/Channel 57. We are also a registered charitable organization in Canada, and are represented in Canada by Les Amis Canadiens de Mountain Lake PBS. Mountain Lake PBS has a volunteer Community Advisory Board to provide the station with additional support and guidance.
The station serves as a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), for which around sixty percent of our funding comes from voluntary contributions made by individual members, businesses and organizations. The remaining comes from New York State and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Mountain Lake PBS broadcasts 24 hours a day and features high quality and non-commercial programming such as NOVA, Masterpiece Theatre, BBC World News, Nature, Frontline and various children's programs including Sesame Street, Arthur and Curious George.
We are a station that has produced much of our own local programming, such as Adirondack Outdoors, Art Express, Mountain Lake Journal, Roadside Adventures, and Rustic Living. Mountain Lake PBS also broadcasts programs acquired from a variety of different sources around the world.
