Katherine Heaviside, president and founder of Epoch 5 Public Relations, widely recognized as one of the top PR firms in the New York area, was named to the Long Island Press 2012 Power List, a selection of the region’s top 50 influential citizens from the fields of business, government, academia, healthcare, not-for-profit, and the public sector.
In the profile of Heaviside, the editors wrote: “How this woman keeps her cool while wading through some of the hottest controversies is a testament to her strength and her business acumen as she heads the top public relations firm. Heaviside’s clients put their trust in her to get the job done and she delivers year after year. “
Over the course of her 30-plus years at the helm of Epoch 5, Katherine has counseled corporate and not-for-profit enterprises through the changes that have swept over the NY metro area. She has forged relationships and spearheaded communications with the media and with leaders of businesses, foundations, associations, the community and government, many of whom have benefited from Katherine’s proactive representation, strategic counsel, and issues management.
Under Katherine’s direction, Epoch 5 was awarded the Silver Anvil Award, the PR industry’s most coveted award, and the national Mercury Award, for recognition of excellence in the PR community.
A member of the Executive Board of the Long Island Association, Katherine is a former board member of North Fork Bank. She currently serves on the boards of several business associations, educational, and humanitarian organizations, including United Way and Regional Plan Association.
Among her many honors, Katherine has been named a New York State Woman of Distinction and consistently one of the region’s “Top Influentials.” She has been recognized by Women on the Job, is the recipient of the Spirit of Long Island Award for Entrepreneurship and is a charter member of the area’s Top 50 Women Hall of Fame.
