WEDC Announces Opening of Mid-Hudson Satellite Center to Support the Growth of Local Businesses in the Seven Counties of the Hudson Valley

Poughkeepsie, NY Hudson Valley NY Region

The Women’s Enterprise Development Center Inc. (WEDC) is pleased to announce the opening of its new satellite office to give residents in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties access to high-quality, low cost business training programs. The Satellite will be located at The Hancock Technology Center at Marist College. It will serve entrepreneurs and business owners, both men and women, across a diversity of market segments and stages of business development.

Funded through a federal Economic Development Administration (EDA) disaster relief grant, the Satellite will help the Hudson Valley economy in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee by providing residents with the skills, tools, and resources they need to achieve economic self-sufficiency through business ownership. “For more than 15 years, WEDC has been providing valuable programs and services to entrepreneurs,” said WEDC Executive Director Anne Janiak. “Our new Mid-Hudson Valley Satellite Center at Marist College will enable us to better reach the increasing number of business owners in the area to help them grow successful enterprises and generate regional economic growth.”

The WEDC Satellite will provide both new entrepreneurs and existing business owners with opportunities to:

• Strengthen and enhance their business skills through a broad range of successful, ‘shovel-ready’ business programs including a 60+ Hour Business Training Program, one-on-one counseling services, microloan funding, information on government small business programs such as M/WBE certification, networking, seminars, and workshops.

• Gain access to the advanced computer software at The Hancock Technology Center to acquire technical skills needed by the successful 21st century business owner.
