Hospital TV Series Wins Gold from Healthcare Advertising Awards |

Smith & Jones, a healthcare marketing agency in Troy, NY, received a Gold award from the 30th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards for its work with Ellis Medicine. The agency received the award for the Ellis Medicine Service Line Brand/Patient TV Spots in the TV Series category.
The Healthcare Advertising Awards is the largest healthcare advertising awards competition in the world, and one of the 10 largest of all advertising awards. This year, the competition received more than 4,000 entries.
The winners are determined by a national panel of judges, who rate entries based on creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact. This year, 247 entries out of the 4,000 received Gold awards.
The winning TV series featured two different types of spots from three different campaigns executed in 2012. The patient spots feature excerpts of candid interviews with the main patients from the cardiac, cancer, and maternity campaigns, Errol Singh, Shelly Shinebarger, and Jen Bergeron, respectively. In their interviews, they discuss their experiences at Ellis and why it was their hospital of choice.
The brand spots feature b-roll of cardiac, cancer, and maternity patients from past Ellis Medicine campaigns, and a voiceover describes what makes the care at Ellis Medicine different from competitors. They then invite viewers to visit the campaigns’ respective pages on the Ellis website to watch the patient stories in long-form web videos.
The purpose of all of these TV spots was to drive viewers to the Ellis Medicine campaign landing pages where they could watch unscripted interviews with physicians and read material to learn more about the services available at the hospital. These 30-second spots appeared on major network and cable advertising.
